The
Playgoers' Society of Dartington Hall was founded by
Dorothy Elmhirst in 1946. It is now one of the leading
theatre groups in the region, with a reputation for high
quality and adventurous productions. Our membership
stands at about 150, drawn from all over South Devon.
We produce an open-air show in the private garden at Dartington every summer, often with a professional director, plus two major productions usually in the Barn Theatre (April and October). In addition, we present small-scale studio work at Bogan House, Totnes in December and February each year. 2004 saw a second open-air production in the Chairman's Garden at Follaton House, Totnes, and 2006 brought theatre-in-the-round to St Johns Church Bridgetown a venue we continue to use each spring. Please contact us for more information on Playgoers, to join the society, or to provide feedback on the website. New members are always very welcome.
